Crossroads

Bone Whisperer has been stalled for a bit. My muse has dropped another story idea for Vella on me and I wrote a bit (1,456 words) on it this last week. I also wrote a bit on Emergent and put it up on Vella. But BW has stalled because my muse is being fickle right now and going off on a tangent or two. I need to wrangle her and get BW finished so I can move on to Ghostwolf and Elemental Voice books.

EV has one more book and a novella to go to be finished and Ghostwolf has two books to go. Then there’s the Time-Lost books, the Fallborn books, the Elemental Detective novellas, the Mortal Voice books, the Alliance books, and the dozens of other series I have in my head. My writing queue is miles long. Or should that be parsecs? Either way it is very long and unfortunately I am not a fast writer.

So I’m at another crossroad. Should I concentrate on only my Vellas right now or on finishing my two book series? Or should I try juggling them all? At least for a bit.

That’s what’s going on right now. I’m juggling everything. AS I’ve said I have soo many stories in my queue that I want to get out. I just wish I was a faster writer. But I know ‘Don’t compete, Don’t compare’. However it’s hard when other writers can complete a book in a month and it takes me at least 6 or more. It frustrates me. I’ve tried to write faster, do outlines, etc but that stuff just doesn’t work for me. My muse doesn’t like it and my writing suffers more with writer’s block.

This year I already have one book out, book 4 in EV. I had planned to have BW out this year as well but I’m putting it up in Vella instead. I had also planned to have at least half of book 3 of Ghostwolf done. Book 3 is started at least, however it is not even a third of the way done. So this year is not going as I originally planned.

Hopefully Vella will make up for not publishing another book this year. I will give it until January to see if it’s viable for me. Vella is serial storytelling where the author puts up episodes (chapters) and readers pay tokens to read each episode. I’ve been told it’s good and that I should try it. So I am.

Stay tune for the next installment.

Off Grid

Our internet went out. We got it back for a day then it went out again. My phone was spotty as well and it only has a limited number of data. Right now we have a temp fix in place. So I’ve been offline for about a week.

Which meant I missed my fortnight blog. No social media means I read. Two books of one of my fav series was reissued and I had them so I spent my usual computer time reading. I didn’t even work on my WIP.

I also have been sick. Vertigo. I’ve been takin’ antidizzy pills and resting. I’m feeling better but I don’t know if that’s because I’m takin’ the pills or if it’s getting better.

Still trying out Kindle Vella. Joined a few Vella groups. Hopefully I’ll get the hang of it.

Keeping this short incase internet decides to go out again. Stay tuned for next installment.

Another Tat

Been thinking a lot these last two weeks. Made a few decisions.

I decided to keep my Tina books on Amazon and in KU. But I’m going to move my T.L. books to either D2D or Ingram Sparks. I’m leaning toward IS because Sharon can move them and I don’t have to learn how to do D2D stuff. I don’t want all my eggs in one basket as it were incase my AMZ account gets terminated because of piracy. But Sharon won’t be able to do the switch until October soo…

My Elemental Voice series, The EV companion series, Mortal Voice series, and The Elemental Detective series will stay on Amazon and in Kindle Unlimited. As I finish them they will be put up and stay there. But my Ghostwolf series, Fallborn series, Time-Lost series, and the new Bone Whisperer series is going to be leaving KU and moving over to IS or D2D.

I also decided to try Kindle Vella. I put up some episodes(chapters) from my Bone Whisperer WIP. Gonna test the waters as it were. Won’t be able to publish BW anyway until around October since Sharon is slammed right now until then so might as well try it. Besides I’m not finished yet anyway. Still got some pesky loose ends to tie up. And this may give me some feedback.

Also decided to change my Ghostwolf covers. They’re not to market really so I need something that is at least closer to market.

That’s what I’ve decided so far, but like my muse I’m fickle and may change my mind. 🙂

I also went to the Between the Pages Conference during this time. I sold a few books and went to a few workshops. Had a fun time. Think I’ll make it a yearly thing.

Hootin’-an-Hollarin’ is next on the agenda. The third Friday and Saturday in September. I’m pre-paid for this year and have the same location. I enjoy the craft festival, especially the food. 🙂

Stay tuned for the next installment.

Fort-n-a-Day

A fortnight and a day has passed. I meant to write last night but didn’t happen so today it is.

Wrote on my Bone Whisperer WIP of course. So I’m now at 38,326 words. Got the minion to catch yet, rescue the kids, intro a ‘new’ villain, and wrap up a few other things and I’ll be done. I plan to put this book on Draft2Digital. It will be my trial run before I try putting my other books on D2D. KOBO Plus doesn’t have a exclusivity clause and I won’t get account terminated because of piracy . And So I can go wide with both print and ebook.

2/3 of my books have left Kindle Unlimited. Raven Manor and Earth Reader, both Book 1s, are still in KU and will be until the end of June, beginning of July. If you have not read them yet and want to read them free through KU you need to do so before the end of June.

This weekend is the writer’s conference. Spent most of this week getting ready. Bought a new tote for my books, this one with wheels. It was getting too heavy to carry my older one so I checked out wheeled ones and saw one on sale. Packed a duffle bag. I’ll put the last minute things in at–well, the last minute, before my parents take me. My dad doesn’t trust leaving any of his vehicles overnight in the city. Might not have a catalytic converter by morning or broken windows so they’re givin’ me a ride.

So if you’re in the neighborhood of Springfield, MO on Saturday afternoon(June 10) between 1pm-530pm stop on by Double Tree by Hilton and visit me and several other Indie authors. We’ll have a wide range of books and authors.

If I haven’t scared you away.

Stay tuned for the next post.

A Fort-Note

A fortnight has passed and it’s blog time again.

Not much has happened in the last two weeks.

I’ve been writing of course on my Bone Whisperer WIP. I’m at 36,811 words and at the beginning of the final confrontation between this book’s main villain and the protag. Only part of the book arc is coming to an end. There is still some set up for the next book to come and a bit of a surprise coming before the end of this book.

I also got in some books for the writer’s conference I’m going to in June. Not going to take many as I probably won’t sell a lot there. It’s mainly a learning experience. But they will have the bookroom open to the public from 1pm to 530pm on Saturday the 10th so I may get a few nibbles.

The ferals have brought out their kittens to teach them to eat and where to eat. Some of them are skittish but quite a few aren’t so I’ve petted a few. Can’t tell their gender yet as they’re too small but they’re soo darn cute.

Some of my books have already left Kindle Unlimited but most of them are still in. AS soon as they are all out of KU I’m going to move at least the T.L. books to Draft2Digital and go wide there with them as I’ve said before. I don’t want to risk my AMZ account being terminated because of piracy and I want to go wide with both my ebook and print.

Well, I got to go but stay tuned for the next post

A Tisket, A Taskit

Did you think of that old rhyme when you saw the title? It just popped into my head when I sat down to write this blog. Don’t know why.

I guess I’m showing my age. Most of you probably don’t know that rhyme. A lot of things from my younger years are unknown to this generation and most of the one before. I’m not really that old but not young either however a lot of things have changed in the last few decades.

Anyway I’ve been working on my Bone Whisperer WIP. Still slow going but at least it’s moving forward. I’m at 33,781 words as of this minute. My muse is still only giving me a bit at a time so I don’t know when I’ll get finished with this story.

I’m withdrawing my books from Kindle Unlimited. Some people have had their accounts terminated because of piracy. I don’t want to take the chance so they’re coming out. My T.L. books may be going to Draft2Digital. I don’t have the files for my older books so I’m going to leave them on Amazon as well as add the rest of the series books there. But my T.L. Books I think I’ll try D2D with, starting with Bone Whisperer then adding my other books as they come off KU. I’m almost a Luddite when it comes to computer stuff but I guess I’m going to have to step up.

And for your edification the rhyme:

A Tisket, A taskit/A green and yellow Basket/wrote a letter to my love and on the way I dropped it, dropped it

A Tease

Time again for a blog post. At least this time I’m closer to the two week mark or Fortnight as the British say.

Since last we met I’ve worked a bit more on my WIP. I’m at 30,575 words now. Still crawling along. But the main villain has shown up. However the heroes don’t know yet that this is the main villain. And the caught minion isn’t talking.

The cover is done and I showed the teaser on IG two weeks ago then on my FB when it was finished. I thought I’d show it here for those who follow this blog. I really like it. I’ll do a full cover reveal after I finish the book. But I wanted to at least reveal the title.

Read a novella and put it up on my reading/review blog on Http://newnovelreads.blogspot.com I am also catching up on a few of my other series: book 10 of Jazzi Zander series and book 2 of Magebreaker series. Book 10 is read and I’m on chapter 1 of book 2 of the Magebreaker series. I try to read one new book a month and at least one of next books in one of the series I’ve already read. But there are soo many books on my TBR list. Almost as much as is in my writing queue.

We’ve got kittens! The ferals have had their babies and are slim again but that hasn’t slowed them down from eating. For those of you who don’t know, we keep feral cats around to keep mice, rats and other pests away from our places. Since we’ve had ferals (years) we haven’t had problems with chewed wires or other nastiness. We feed them and have a couple of cat house put out for them. They are somewhat tame around me since I feed them. Plus Peaches (my cat) keeps them in line a bit. So I’m the crazy cat lady you hear about. They are all my children. 🙂

Well, time is up. Got to go do a ‘project’.

Stay tuned.

A Pen Note

I try to get to this blog every two weeks or a fortnight as the British say. But time gets away from me. I’m going to change this blog a bit, at least the writing style. Gonna add a little personal to it instead of just a status report. I like a little personal added to the blogs I read so I decided I would add more like I did with the last blog.

Since last we met I’ve written some more in my WIP, book 1 of Bone Whisperer. I’m at 28, 607 words. Slowly but surely moving along. My muse is still just doling out little by little and won’t tell me the whole story besides the original idea. I want to get it and book 3 of Ghostwolf out this year but Ghostwolf may not happen.

I did however get out another redone cover. This one for my paranormal romance/murder mystery prequel of the Mortal Voice series. The other books are unfortunately stalled in my queue until I get all of my Elemental Voice and Ghostwolf books out. I have soo many books in the queue that I need to get out that I’ll never catch up unless I clone myself and nobody wants another one of me. 🙂

Also with the warmer weather has come ‘projects’. One of which is getting ready for our Spring yard sale coinciding with Spring cleaning. We live in small places and every Spring we go through our stuff to get rid of things we ‘don’t need’. Those words mean different things to each of us. We didn’t have one in 2020, 2021 or 2022 but we need to have one this year to get rid of 3 year accumulation. And the outside chores has began. My writing time will be limited during the Spring and Summer.

For those of you who don’t know I live on my parents’ property and help them out. They’re in their 70’s and while they can move about they still have problems with some things. They were in their 20’s when I was born so I’ll leave you to guess how old I am.

So I’m good to get one book out a year, though I try to get two out. Saying that Book 4 of Elemental Voice is out and I plan to get Book 1 of Bone Whisperer out this year. It will be gravy if I get Book 3 of Ghostwolf out as well.

Time is up for now.

Stay tuned.

A Tat

25,182 words so far for Bone Whisperer book 1. So either 1/3 or 1/2 done depending on what my muse is wanting to do with this story. The villain’s minion is revealed while the true villain is only hinted at so far in the book. However both are lose and free to wreck more havoc for now. Got a bit of a twist coming. Don’t think anyone will see it coming though. Just got to figure out how my muse wants me to pull it off as she’s only doling out bits and pieces. Hopefully she’ll show me the way.

Now that warmer weather has been happening I’ve been busy outside. There’s always things to do outside when the weather’s warm. Dad has ‘projects’ for us to do. So my prime writing time is winding down and I’ll have to snatch time to write. I’m fitting in time now as much as I can before that happens since I want to get Bone done before June but I’m afraid I’ll miss that deadline. But I want to at least get it out this year. I had also planned to get Ghostwolf 3 out but… I think that may not happen.

I may however get some more new covers out. However since my new covers have been on my Elemental Voice books I haven’t sold a one. Don’t know what that says–yet. I’ll give it a little while while I get new covers for my other books.

Meanwhile I keep working on Bone.

Stay tuned.

New Covers

The new covers for the books of Elemental Voice are now up.

I plan to do the two novellas as well. And my other books are also up for redoing. Now that I found a reasonably priced cover designer I want to put the covers I really want on my books instead of making due. I’m not very tech savvy nor am I rich enough to do professional covers on my own. And no I can’t ‘save up’ enough for a cover costing over $100. Some of us are on fixed incomes and live paycheck to paycheck. But I’ve found one that I can afford for now if I don’t mind hard sacrifices.

On to a better subject. I am working on book 1 of Bone Whisperer. I’m about 1/3 of the way done. I want to have it done before the June conference. However my muse is fickle and plans mean nothing to her. I wrote 2,000 words last week and over 500 so far. This being book 1 I have to set everything up and that’s taking time. I’m trying to keep the pacing moving along and not add too much info dumps. First books in a series are a balancing act. I hope I’m balancing well.
